Idée Fixe in The Real Review
20/10/26
We are pleased to share snippets of our feature in The Real Review's Guide to Champagne & Sparkling Week.
"Vasse Felix’s Idée Fixe is one of the great stories of recent Margaret River history. All the world knows that Margaret River is a great source of cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay and other still table wines, but serious investment in high-level sparkling wine is not what might be expected in this region. Most of the region is not exactly cool-climate. Tasmania and the Adelaide Hills seem more promising places to do serious fizz.
However, the southern part of the region is a different story. It’s substantially cooler than the north. Karridale has 1300-1400 heat degree days in the growing season, significantly cooler than Wilyabrup which has 1600-1700."

"These are serious, superb sparkling wines, and their origin has a touch of the much vaunted champenois audacity about it."
