2021 Idée Fixe, Premier Brut, Blanc de Blancs – Margaret River

I am on the Idée Fixe bus, starting this journey with the very first release and now celebrating the truly spectacular 2021 vintage. I feel part of the gang, along for the ride, and as every mile passes and every bottle is opened, it becomes crystal clear, or as blindingly clear as the wine in this glass, that this brand is a new and scintillating horizon for Australian sparkling. I love the other two sparklers in this Report, and they have blazed a remarkable trail, but it is this brand, under the ownership of Margaret River icons Vasse Felix, with its wine made form the invigorating, rigid, brittle and beautiful Chardonnay grapes found in the far south of Margaret River that is setting the cat among the pigeons. One taste and you will know why I have made a four-year long fuss about this wine. Pay attention to the value for money here – this is a must-buy if you adore crystalline Blanc de Blanc wines.
